Parker Trottier might share his name and bloodline with a Hall of Famer, but not his playing style. His grandfather, Bryan Trottier, won six Stanley Cups as one of the most complete centers in NHL history, while Parker is a left-winger for the United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) who forechecks, finishes checks, and retrieves pucks, and who spent his draft year improving his offensive game.

On an NTDP roster where many players plateaued, Trottier’s arrow pointed up. He had five points at the U17 level, then 27 in his draft year, including eight goals against United States Hockey League (USHL) competition. He is, by most accounts, the program’s hardest forward to play against, a fourth-line motor who finishes every check and piles up penalty minutes.
