The New Jersey Devils have a talented prospect pipeline, but Mikhail Yegorov is at the top of the list – and for good reason. He’s one of the most highly anticipated NHL goalie prospects, with a unique blend of skill, size, and speed.
The 20-year-old Russian completed his second season at Boston University earlier this year, posting a .904 save percentage (SV%), a 16-15-2 record, and two shutouts. But there’s more to him than meets the eye. Yegorov has taken his game a step further, creating his own website to track advanced statistics. Early on Friday, he took to Instagram to share the project that he’s been working on for the last six months.
He notes that save percentage and goals against aren’t the only things that define a goalie. Instead, yegorovstats.com will feature over 150 different metrics to measure his performance throughout every game for the rest of his career.
The site is broken down into categories, including game logs, period breakdowns, incremental stats, and a detailed glossary. He even created his own grading system to track different types of shots and goals against, from A+ for the highest danger to a low-danger Grade C.
After only a few moments of scrolling through the website, it’s clear how much time and effort Yegorov put into tracking his game. Fans can even see the distribution of stats depicted as bar graphs, line plots, and recent averages. Other fascinating categories include situational splits based on home and away games, actual versus expected statistics, rebound control, glove performance, and playmaking.
His social media post ends with this: “Every save. Every Metric. One dashboard.” With this level of dedication, fans will be counting down the days until Yegorov makes his NHL debut donning the black and red.
