Minnesota Wild made a significant investment in their future on Monday, inking young defenseman Brock Faber to an eight-year contract worth $68 million. This long-term deal, carrying an annual average value of $8.5 million, will kick in during the 2025-26 season.

The 21-year-old blueliner enjoyed a standout rookie campaign, logging impressive minutes on the ice and contributing offensively. Faber played in every game last season, racking up 47 points (eight goals, 39 assists) while averaging a hefty 24:58 of ice time per night. His standout performance earned him a runner-up finish for the Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league’s top rookie.

Faber’s point total set a new franchise record for rookie defensemen and ranks second in Wild history among all first-year players, trailing only the prolific Kirill Kaprizov.

Faber expressed his excitement about the deal and emphasized his commitment to the team and the city. He stated, “I’ve always been true to myself, and this contract doesn’t change that. My focus remains on winning, and I’m thrilled to continue my journey with the Wild. This is a dream come true for me and my family.”
