Big news for Team USA basketball! The squad gained a key player for the upcoming Paris Olympics while also bidding farewell to another.
Derrick White Team USA
Derrick White, fresh off a championship win with the Boston Celtics, has been named to the national team. This will be his first Olympic appearance, and he brings a wealth of experience after seven seasons in the NBA. White’s defensive prowess, averaging over 15 points and 5 assists a game last season, makes him a valuable addition.
Kawhi Leonard, previously announced on the team, will unfortunately not participate. After discussions with USA Basketball, it was decided focusing on the upcoming NBA season would be in his best interest.
Paris Olympics Basketball
The rest of the team remains stacked with talent. Players like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry boast 11 Olympic appearances and a staggering 10 gold medals between them. This powerhouse team is aiming to bring home another championship and solidify American dominance in basketball.
USA Men’s Olympic Basketball Roster
Head Coach Steve Kerr, along with his impressive coaching staff, will be leading the team. They’ll kick things off with an exhibition game against Canada today before heading to Paris for the Olympics which begin July 26th.
