Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond has committed to the franchise for the long haul, signing an eight-year, $64.6 million contract extension on Monday. The deal carries an average annual value of $8.075 million.

The 22-year-old Swede, who was a restricted free agent, enjoyed a breakout season in 2023-24. He led the Red Wings in points with 72, surpassing his previous career-highs in goals (31), assists (41), and power-play goals (6).
Raymond’s defensive contributions were also noteworthy. He tied for second on the team in takeaways, showcasing his commitment to both ends of the ice.

Looking ahead, Raymond expressed his desire to continue improving his game. “I’m still young and developing,” he said in May. “I want to keep working on my shot, skating, and physicality.”
Selected fourth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Raymond has already made a significant impact on the Red Wings. In 238 regular-season games, he has amassed 174 points, including 71 goals. This long-term commitment solidifies Raymond’s status as a cornerstone player for the Detroit franchise.
