The pivotal Week 14 showdown saw head coach DeMeco Ryans’ bunch intercept Mahomes three times and sack him twice while holding Kansas City to its lowest scoring output of the season after a scoreless first half. The strong outing helped secure Houston’s fifth-straight win and improve their position in the playoff race.
As for Kansas City (6-7), the club’s dwindling hopes of making the playoffs may essentially be erased after falling to Houston. The Texans’ daunting defense, which ranked first in total yards (265.7) and points (16.5) allowed entering Week 14, proved to be Mahomes’ toughest test in a game where the quarterback was without three starting offensive linemen and lost another on the first play of the game.
