The 23-year-old Latvian netminder made quite an impression last season, stepping up when injuries sidelined the Canucks’ regular starters, Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith. In limited regular-season action, Silovs showcased his talent, posting a 3-0-1 record with a solid 2.47 goals-against average and a .881 save percentage. His performance was even more impressive during the playoffs, where he went 5-5 with a 2.91 GAA and an .898 save percentage.

He’s shown a lot of growth and potential, and we believe he can compete for a full-time spot on our roster. We’re committed to supporting his development and helping him reach his full potential.”

Originally selected by Vancouver in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Silovs has appeared in nine NHL games, compiling a 6-2-1 record with a 2.62 GAA and an .898 save percentage.
