Panthers beat Senators in overtime

Anton Lundell scored 1 minute 35 into overtime to give the Florida Panthers their sixth consecutive win against Ottawa Senators at Amerant Bank Arena on Tuesday, winning 3-2 and sending their season total back into overdrive.

Lundell drove down the left side and defeated Joonas Korpisalo by hitting him from behind at an acute angle.

Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour scored, while Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 28 saves to lead the Panthers (37-15-4) to victory.

Thomas Chabot scored one goal and recorded one assist for the Senators (23-27-3), who have dropped three of four matches this month. Korpisalo made 31 saves.

Ekblad gave Florida an early advantage by scoring from the right face-off circle on an exchange with Carter Verhaeghe 19 seconds in.

Montour extended Ottawa’s lead by taking advantage of an intercepted clearing pass in their zone and scoring from a high slot after having his shot blocked by Ottawa’s defensemen. He earned himself another goal at 17:01 of the second period!

Ottawa scored twice during the third period to tie the game and remain within striking distance of victory.

Chabot made his comeback at 5:36 by picking off a loose puck in the offensive zone and returning his blocked shot to beat Bobrovsky over his left shoulder from above the left circle.

Tim Stutzle tied it 2-2 at 8:46 by driving up the ice following an initial stop by Korpisalo, driving through Florida defensemen while dodging poke checks from Bobrovsky before scoring through a five-hole.
