Winnipeg Jets Sign Henry Thrun to 1-Year Contract – The Hockey Writers – NHL News


The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenseman Henry Thrun to a one-year, two-way contract with an NHL average annual value of $850,000.

The 25 year old Massachusetts product spent the majority of last season in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies, with whom he won the Calder Cup. The left hander, who stands 6-foot-2 and weights 211 pounds, posted five goals and 18 assists for 23 points in 55 games for the Marlies and two goals and seven assists for nine points in 24 Calder Cup Playoff games.

He also suited up for four games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, going pointless. He was not tendered a qualifying offer by the organization, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The 2019 Anaheim Ducks draft pick (fourth round, 101st overall) has played 123-career NHL games between the San Jose Sharks and Maple Leafs, posting five goals and 20 assists for 25 points. He will be a depth option on defence for the Jets in 2026-27.

Thrun is the fourth free agent the Jets have signed this offseason. They inked defenseman Mario Ferraro, forward Noah Gregor, and goaltender Stuart Skinner on July 1.
